On September 2, 2025, a meeting between His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Russian Federation, Tanju Bilgiç, took place at the Patriarchal and Synodal Residence in the Danilov Stavropegial Monastery in Moscow. He was accompanied by the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Turkey, Fatih Mert Arslan.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, representing the DECR.
The meeting noted the positive development of relations between Russia and Turkey, emphasized the importance of the spiritual and religious aspect in establishing contacts between the peoples of the two countries, and included an exchange of views on strengthening cooperation between religious institutions.
